Each year, the Pure Solutions team launches initiatives to protect the environment and lower our carbon footprint, both at home and at the office. Our commitment to going green isn't just in the organic lawn care and natural pest control. Change starts at home, as they say, but also at work.
Sustaining the planet for future generations is something we think about every day; including Earth Day! That's why we wanted to share with you tips for both home and at the office that will help you make better choices every day.
Three tips to make your workplace more environmentally friendly:
TIP #1: Pack Your Lunch
Consider bringing your own lunch and snacks to work in reusable containers. It will not only save you money, but also reduces packaging waste. In our office, we love salads. Often, everyone will bring different salad ingredients (avocado, tomatoes, chickpeas, etc.) and assemble/toss right here in the office, showing how these sorts of ideas can be both good for the environment (and budget), and also for company culture.
TIP #2: Reduce Paper Use
Reduce paper use by emailing documents and use presentations rather than handouts at meetings. If you have to print, print double sided whenever possible! Our co-founder, Trevor, has gone completely paperless and requested that the team only email him documents for upcoming meetings. He comes to meetings with his tablet and has access to all of the documents we discuss.
TIP #3: Ship Smart
Packing and shipping can create tons of office waste. To be more eco-friendly, to pack boxes as densely as possible, repacking to cut down on package size (saving you money on shipping) and create an area in your office to store used boxes so you can reuse them for your shipping needs. In the back of our Weston office, we stack boxes that are accessible to anyone on the team for both work and personal shipping needs. Making these available to the team to reuse reduces the daily waste, and if anyone in your office composts at home, consider letting them take cardboard and other paper products (break room coffee grounds are also fantastic for composting) home before you throw it away!
Pure Solution's Eco-Friendly Commitment to Water Conservation
In 2012, the Pure Solutions team installed rain water collection and filtration systems to eliminate any dependency on community water resources. Each year we work on finding ways to be more efficient and environmentally friendly with our resource use.
