As the season’s change and COVID-19 continues to affect all of our daily lives, we are constantly bombarded with information that is challenging at best to digest. At this point, we all have been practicing social distancing, which looks to be the case for the foreseeable future. The way we participate in large public gatherings, attend events both indoors and outdoors, go to school, and even how we shop may all look quite different moving forward. All of this means we will continue to be spending more time at home. Which as the weather warms up, leads many of us to google "what to do with kids outdoors". 

Many of us must now accept that ticks are part of our lives when enjoying the outdoors. 

By now most people are aware that in May, June, and July ticks are out in force and looking for hosts to feed on. But the reality is that you are at risk of a tick bite almost year-round, depending on your climate. 

According to the newly released report from the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), the world's ecosystems are in dire danger. Species extinction rates are accelerating and grave impacts around the world are now likely.

The principles of organic lawn management can be defined as a systems approach. It’s more than just a product-driven program and has become the standard in conventional turfgrass management. A true organic lawn care program is more than just feeding the grass, it all begins with the soil. If you create a healthy soil it will sustain a healthy lawn with fewer inputs needed.

As the temperatures cool and plants begin to die away in anticipation of winter, deer begin their annual search for food to survive the colder months. As their food sources becomes more and more scarce they will begin to eat the landscaping of many residential and commercial properties. Each season homes and businesses suffer hundreds-to-thousands of dollars in damage to their landscaping. 

On August 29, 2019 Massachusetts State Public Health Officials confirmed four cases of EEE in Massachusetts. Twenty-eight communities now have their risk level raised to critical as a result. 

“Today’s news is evidence of the significant risk from EEE and we are asking residents to take this risk very seriously,” said Public Health Commissioner Monica Bharel, MD, MPH. “We will continue to monitor this situation and the impacted communities.”

At Pure Solutions we see a wide array of issues when consulting on organic lawn care. One topic that many of our customers commonly share is dealing with grubs. Lawn grubs are a nuisance that many homeowners must deal with each summer. They appear almost out of nowhere and cause a painful amount of destruction to lawns. The majority of the time grub worms are either European Chafer or Japanese Beetle larvae.
